Dinosaur National Monument

Home of a huge amount of dinosaur bone finds.  There is an excavated wall of bones that you can look at and touch some of the dinosaur bones.  This turns out to be less exciting that we might have hoped.  The whole area is really gorgeous.  The last two are of the spot where we camped.  Had dinner in Vernal, UT nearby which is a very cute town.  Who expected a decent microbrew in Utah?

Downtown Steamboat

In front of F.M. Light, a fourth generation Western store and Steamboat institution. A former Dartmouth student of mine, Lindsay Lockhart (D 04), takes over in October as the fifth generation to run the place.

Rodeo!

Annual Steamboat Springs Fourth of July Rodeo.  Natalie competed in the calf scramble with a zillion other kids.  The idea is to  be the first kid to get a ribbon from the tail of a calf.  She didn't win.

The Calf Scramble.  Natalie is in the pink sweatshirt on the right hand side.  Flip flops might have been a bad choice.

Across the Great Divide

Denver with Sheila's Aunt Mary

Three nights with Sheila's Aunt Mary. We got to catch up with Sheila's first cousins and 11 of our kids second cousins. We had a side trip to boulder to see the Schollmaiers (third picture)
