Lunch at Clantons on Route 66

Going to wander down old Route 66 for a bit.

16th State

16 more to go...

2000 miles

After a short jaunt through Arkansas including Bentonville and the Walmart mother ship. We hit the 2000 mile mark near Anderson, Missouri. We are headed to route 66 for lunch.

Old school room keys

Mechanical card keys at the Stone Castle Inn in Branson. Haven't seem these in a while.

My only Branson regret

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede was sold out. Lumberjack competitions, horses, and Bison!

Ozark River National Park in Missouri

We camped for two nights in Round Springs Campground on the Ozarks Riverway National Park in 100+ heat. Luckily it cooled to below 70 both nights (eventually). Day 1 we floated down the Current River in Canoes with Sheila's parents. Very pretty and fun. Today we took a cave tour before heading to Branson, MO. The cave compared favorably to Mammoth, amazingly enough. This National Park is definitely more of a regional attraction than the big guys we head to later. Mostly MO and a few IL license plates. I occasionally caught a hint of dueling banjos from the riverbank ;-). One park ranger turned out to be a college student from Plymouth, NH. Had some nice catfish for lunch in Eminence, MO before heading out.

Only in Branson, MO

Quick stop to see a show in Branson, MO. We rolled into town about 7, grabbed a hotel room and headed for a dinner show. The star of our dinner cruise was a Julliard trained fiddle playing army veteran who grew up the daughter of a Christian pastor in the midwest. Did I mention that she does Cirque de Soleil silk rope acrobatics while playing the fiddle? Only in America. Actually, only in Branson, MO. I'm glad we stopped.

Dinner cruise in Branson, MO

The entire inside of the boat is a theater!

You think NH has lousy data coverage

A full day with no cell coverage. Haven't seen 3G coverage for a couple of 100 miles on a 65 mph divided highway.

It's hot

Two nights near eminence, mo in the ozark national river way. Floated down the current river in canoes yesterday with Sheila's parents. Cave tour this morning (nice and cool) followed by catfish for lunch. On to Branson, MO. More pics once I can get them off the camera.
